Mashhad General Electricity Company was founded in 1316 and operated until 1343, when regional electricity companies were established. Khorasan Regional Electricity Company then took responsibility for the relevant services to the people of Khorasan. In 1371, affiliated companies began to be established to implement a new structure, and different Khorasan electricity departments were reorganized as subsidiaries. Initially, Khorasan Province Electricity Distribution Company managed the province’s distribution sector.
In the years since the company began operating, it has grown significantly in Iran’s electricity industry and has consistently ranked among the country’s leading distribution companies. Mashhad is particularly important because it is home to the holy shrine of Imam Reza, the eighth Imam (peace be upon him), and welcomes several million pilgrims annually. This highlights the particularly sensitive responsibilities of Mashhad County Electricity Distribution Company.
